Part of the Yardley district
Sheldon is an outer suburb on the south-east side of Birmingham, reached by the A45 Coventry Road.
It is bounded by Solihull to the south and east and the main London railway line, Garretts Green Lane and Coventry Road to the west.

Composition
The northern end of the runway at Birmingham International Airport lies in the Ward, although the airport itself is actually in neighbouring Solihull. Hatchford Brook Golf Centre is adjacent to the runway.
A large percentage of the owner-occupied housing is semi-detached three bedroom built in the 1930s. Two and three bedroom council housing was added post-war, much of which has been sold over the last 20 years. The remaining council-owned housing comprises of small bungalows, blocks of flats and maisonettes.
