for-Wards is an ambitious two-year city-wide project creating 10 amazing pieces of music inspired by Birmingham’s 40 wards, resulting in a cultural sound map of the city.
Alongside the sound map, local illustrator Claire Hartley is also creating a visual cultural map of Birmingham and we need your help!
We’re collecting information on cultural landmarks, musicians and more!
Let us know about YOUR area, is there/was there a legendary music venue? Did a great band grow up near you or play their first gig nearby? What landmarks remind you of your area?
For example, Mothers was a legendary music venue in Erdington in the 60’s and 70’s, John Taylor of Duran Duran grew up in Hollywood, and the Laser Quest is a key landmark in Acocks Green.
